I wanted a place to put my ideas about game design, and more specifically game balance.
I also play bridge, and "nerf aces" is an imagined response to playing bridge by your average forum posting video games player with an opinion. Nerfing being the term for weakening a game element. So the comment is meant to be an ironic poke at the general concept that the main point of balancing a game is to take each element of a game and weaken and strengthen them, until they are all roughly equivalent in some directly experienced sense of power.
As this is an introductory post, I should say something about myself also. I am the co-designer of Endeavor. I recently was hired to actually work on games as my day job, for Grinding Gear Games on Path of Exile.
Before that I worked in IT on infrastructure (servers and storage), and have degrees in History and Strategic Studies.
